Style Spotlight on: Empowering Women

It's Women's History month, StyleWise Guys and Fellow Fashionistas!

Today's post is all about empowering women; first, let's cover Saturday's Women's Opportunity Award in Rocklin. There were many female speakers, one of which was Assemblywoman Beth Gaines, as well as hearing the stories of the award nominees--all inspiring!

Of course, Miss Latanya Johnson was on hand, looking strong in a pin stripe power suit with a bold red camisole and fantastic red patent pumps. Don't faint from shock--yes, I AM sporting studded flats....(Style Madness Method: a daytime luncheon warrants a polished look, hence my Louis Vuitton scarf--however, too dressy would be out of place and over the top. I kept my bright dress and flashy statement earrings simple with a flat shoe and a light jacket):

Here are the award nominees (each lady is a winner based on her level of success)...from left to right:
Jessica Singer (Women's Opportunity Award Nominee), Assemblywoman Beth Gaines, Paula Howell (Women's Opportunity Award Nominee), Viola Arauza (Women's Opportunity Award Nominee) & her totally adorbs daughter Isabel, Latanya Johnson (the very first Women's Opportunity Award Winner & Executive Director of Working Women International), Debby Bedwell (South Placer Soroptomist' Society)
Not one to keep you suspense, but here's the Grand Prize winner, Jessica Singer:

Family and friends of the award winners were also in attendance, and everyone looked smashing (check out the retro flavored dresses on the ladies and the great shirt on the dapper gent below):

Sacramento Soroptomist, Elizabeth Payette, wearing a lovely bold print and glittering accessories (also note her choice of a low show for the daytime event)

Here's Beth Gaines' intern, showing just how responsible and put together the right pencil skirt/pumps combo can make you look--think  'Mad Men' meets neo-modern Lady.

I also want to mention an upcoming event, all in the spirit of Women's History month--
Saturday, March 29th: "Women on the Brink", a pictorial account by award winning photographers of women a breath away from poverty, living paycheck to paycheck.

Not only will I, your Hostess with Mostest, be in attendance, but so will one of my wonderful and awe inspiring female professors, Deborah Moreno.
It's from noon to 2pm at the CA Museum, 1020 O Street, Sacramento. $9 general admission, and $7.50 for students. (For more details online, go to: californiamuseum.org)

Live In Store Style Event: I'll be at 925 Boutique in Roseville again (216 Douglas Blvd., nearest cross street: Vernon) on March 15th. I'll be styling the award winners from the Women's Opportunity Award, so if you're needing my attention, come in early! Store opens at 10am...
